Painting with Fire is all about colorful “glass on metal,” which is the definition of enamel. Under the direction of Barbara Lewis, author of Amazon’s Best Craft Book of 2011, “Torch-Fired Enamel Jewelry: a Workshop in Painting with Fire,” PWF’s state-of-the-art teaching facility welcomes the beginning and advanced artist looking to push the envelope of enameled pieces kissed by the flame. With Lewis’ patented firing technique, you’ll create pieces that are as distinctive as you are! As Thompson Enamel distributors, Painting with Fire carries all the supplies you need to continue your love affair with colored glass on metal after you leave the studio! You’ll also find other jewelry making classes and the tools and materials to go along with them. Painting with Fire is located at the hub of the Grand Central District, surrounded by great restaurants, antique shops, one of the area’s largest stained glass studios and art-filled coffee shop across the street where you can grab a bite to eat. Even the Taco Bus, a block away, offers a unique diversion. The eclectic atmosphere of the Painting with Fire Gallery draws you in with its unique blend of ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photography, vintage and repurposed pieces. Always looking to experience the unique quality of a simple object, the gallery’s main display case became a unique sculpture! Featuring an antique church door, river stones, wedges of wood from a Colorado forest and parts of an antique mirror, it’s definitely one of a kind. Special themed exhibits change quarterly, but you’ll always find something new in the gallery. Painting with Fire is a family-owned and -operated business. Barbara, Jim, Laura or David Lewis will welcome walk-in students who have an hour or two to learn something new!
