The gallery ART ON 1ST presents an aesthetic and interesting variety of work that expresses individual talents of artists. While featuring the paintings of owner/artist Rita Gould, other artists are also on display. Gould , who has studied art and art history expresses herself predominantly with oils but enjoys other mediums, as well, including encaustics. Her works range from realism to expressionism. She does portraits and commissions. Other artists present an eclectic gamut of styles and mediums from representational to abstract. Artists’ works are periodically featured to give a larger view of each artist’s expression. The gallery offers work space so that the exercise of creativity in the gallery is an active rather than static enterprise and visitors are welcome to view art works in progress. Art on the walls is constantly changing. Some paintings have printed commentary from the artist’s experiences so that reading about the works becomes a part of the viewer’s experience. The gallery also offers a small collection of paintings by W. Emerton Heitland, an artist in the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts collection; and a number of works by Harold A. Nosti, a Tampa artist whose works have been shown in a number of Museums and galleries. A work by William Pachner, a noted artist shown in the Tampa Museum of Art, Florida Holocaust Museum, and St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, is a highlight of the exhibit. Open Mon-Sat 10:30am - 2:30pm
